A very Remmy day!
Apr 1st 2009
The verdict is out! The Remmy Awards (The Recruitment Marketing Awards), once again, recognised and rewarded advertisements that set a benchmark for innovative, ingenious and high-quality recruitment communication. Here’s the dope…
Ascent, along with industry experts celebrated yet another year of excellence in recruitment advertising with The Remmy Awards on March 26th, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency, Mumbai. The spotlight was on people, who have, through their unique and creative ways, revolutionised the concept of recruitment communication in India.
Given the overwhelming response, with respect to entries, it wasn’t easy for our esteemed panel of jury members to pick the best. One look at the winners and nominees on our “wall of fame” at the event and those aspiring for a ‘Remmy’ knew that a good recruitment ad has to satisfy the following parameters: 1) it should clearly position the company as an ‘employer of choice’, 2) it should specifically convey the employer brand attributes to its prospective employees and clearly describe the career opportunities it has in store for them and 3) it should answer the most important question, ‘what purpose of the candidate does joining a particular organisation serve?’.
The venue was abuzz with creative and insightful discussions on recruitment and the purpose a good recruitment ad can help achieve, especially during testing times like these. Ajay Kakar, CMO-financial services, Aditya Birla Group, who was the chief guest at the event spoke about the transition recruitment advertising has undergone since his days in the advertising agency. “There was a time when recruitment advertisements were only classified ads; but the scenario, today, has changed and how! Now, it is important for an organisation to communicate its value proposition to a prospective employee, through a recruitment ad, and then deliver on it,” he said.
But if you think that the Remmy’s was anything like a typical, monotonous black-tie corporate gathering, you are highly mistaken. Popular Bollywood writer Kiran Kotrial made sure the audience got an appropriate dose of entertainment as he got into his act of amusing the audience with famous Bollywood movie bloopers. But some serious business was also being discussed among all the cheer and camaraderie. In today’s tough times, where companies are competing
with each other, in an endeavour to attract and retain the best, recruitment ads have become a critical tool for employers and even for employees for whom the need to work for a compelling brand far surpasses factors like pay and job title. At the Remmy’s, we were able to honour just that!
